Orange has continued its senior leadership overhaul with the appointment of Brelotte Ba (pictured), Deputy CEO of Orange Middle East and Africa (MEA), as the new Director General of its Senegalese subsidiary, Sonatel.
Ba will take over from Sekou Drame, who is set to step down on Thursday (July 31). The board of directors praised Drame for his “significant contributions to the development of the company” since his appointment as Managing Director in 2018.
Ba began his career at Sonatel in 2001, spending five years in sales and finance before rising through the ranks. He has since held several executive positions across the group’s West African footprint, including Chief Marketing Officer of Orange Guinea and CEO roles at Orange Bissau and Orange Mali. Most recently, he served as Deputy CEO of the MEA region under Jerome Henique, who has now transitioned to lead Orange France as part of the company’s broader executive reshuffle.
During the tenure of Ba and Henique, the MEA unit delivered strong growth and was frequently cited as a highlight in Orange’s financial performance updates.
