Oracle has equipped its Enterprise Communications Platform (ECP) with connectivity from Space X’s Starlink low-Earth-orbit (LEO) satellites , enabling clients to access its cloud applications in remote locations.
In a joint statement, Jason Fritch, SpaceX Vice President of Starlink Enterprise Sales, said: “Starlink provides reliable high-speed connectivity for those in areas where it has historically been difficult due to a lack of infrastructure or natural obstacles.”
By extending the reach of its cloud technology, customers will now be able to access real-time information in “invaluable ways,” Fritch added.
Oracle ECP can now utilise a combination of fixed, mobile, and Starlink’s LEO satellites to ensure connectivity to its cloud network in remote or previously underserved areas.
With the integration of Starlink’s network, Oracle’s industry application customers can benefit from satellite connectivity in over 100 locations.
For example, healthcare providers could access Oracle applications in rural clinics or even in mountainous regions during emergencies.
“By adding Starlink’s proven performance and expansive network to our established relationships, we are enabling ubiquitous IoT connectivity, safeguarding mission-critical operations, and protecting data integrity during emergencies,” said Andrew Morawski, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Oracle Communications.
“Together, we are creating the intelligent communications foundation that will accelerate business transformation across industries worldwide.”
