The Rele Arts Foundation has officially opened applications for the 2025 Young Contemporaries residency program.
This initiative, now in its milestone 10th edition, specifically aims to empower emerging artists from across Africa. It offers a transformative experience aimed at fostering critical thinking and artistic exploration.
In the previous edition, the residency welcomed a total of nine artists, including six from Nigeria and three international artists hailing from Egypt, South Africa, and Cameroon.
The Rele Arts Foundation Young Contemporaries artists in the ninth edition included Atinuke Macaulay, David Ngaji, Praise Sanni-Adeniyi, as well as Salam Moneyang, who presented captivating new works.
Since its establishment in 2016, the Young Contemporaries residency program has been dedicated to shaping the contemporary art scene in Africa. It prioritizes nurturing and providing platforms for critical explorations of mediums and narratives. Over the years, the Young Contemporaries program has gained recognition for its role in showcasing Africa’s top artistic talents.
This is an unparalleled opportunity for young artists to engage with a vibrant community of like-minded individuals and unleash their artistic talents. The program organizers also announced that renowned international art critics and curators will lead the program, ensuring participants receive exceptional mentorship and education.
Applications for the 2025 Young Contemporaries residency program will open on March 15th and close on April 30th, 2024.
