NP Aerospace has accepted a contract to provide the remaining 87 Light Tactical Transport Vehicles (LTTVs) to the Belgian Armed Forces.

The agreement is part of Brussels’ broader program to procure 199 ground platforms based on the Mercedes-Benz Unimog truck for the military.

The initial contract for the LTTVs was awarded to mobility developer Jankel Armouring Limited in 2018 with deliveries beginning in 2022.

In June 2024, the assets of the British company were then acquired by Coventry-based NP Aerospace, expanding the latter’s tactical and civilian vehicles, armored technologies, seating systems, and through-life support services portfolio.

For Belgium’s LTTV program, NP Aerospace said it will “refresh” production plans and leverage additional capabilities in its Coventry centers.

Other arrangements set during the program’s first award will be coupled with NP Aerospace’s “proven best practices” to sustain “quality standards and timescales” and bring supplies “back on track.”

“We’re very pleased indeed to announce the award of this major contract,” NP Aerospace CEO James Kempston stated. “We’re now putting everything in place to get the LTTV programme up and running and delivering to the customer’s expectations,”

“This is great news for NP Aerospace, for our UK supply chain and for Coventry as we continue to create and/or sustain high skilled jobs in the region and across our supplier partnerships.”

Belgian Ministry of Defence Representative Lt. Col. Jean-François Gennotte commented on NP Aerospace and Jankel’s venture to finalize the program for the armed forces.

“We are very pleased with the acquisition of the assets of Jankel Armouring Limited by NP Aerospace, which allowed us to novate our existing contracts and to keep our fleet supported,” Gennotte said.

“The long record of experience in this sector of NP Aerospace looks very promising and we are looking forward to a long lasting and hopefully fruitful cooperation.”
