NiMet Predicts Sunshine and Haziness Across Nigeria from Monday to Wednesday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted a period of sunshine and haziness across the country from Monday to Wednesday.

The weather outlook, released on Sunday in Abuja, predicts sunny and hazy conditions over the northern region during this period.

NiMet expects sunny skies with patches of clouds over the North Central cities, with isolated thunderstorms possible over parts of Kogi and Benue later in the day.

For the South, cloudy conditions with intervals of sunshine are anticipated over inland areas, with chances of thunderstorms over parts of Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa in the morning. Later in the day, thunderstorms are expected over parts of Ogun, Ondo, Abia, Delta, Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, and Lagos states.

On Tuesday, NiMet predicts sunny and hazy skies over the northern region, with patches of clouds in a hazy atmosphere over the North Central cities. Cloudy atmosphere with spells of sunshine is expected over the inland states and coastal areas of the South, with morning thunderstorms possible over parts of Edo, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, and Lagos states. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Abia, Imo, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Cross River, Delta, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, and Lagos states.

Wednesday is expected to see a continuation of sunny and hazy conditions over the northern region, with patches of clouds in a hazy atmosphere over the North Central cities. Cloudy conditions with intervals of sunshine are anticipated over the inland states and coastal areas of the South in the morning. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected over parts of Edo, Ogun, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Delta States.

NiMet advises the public to take precaution as strong winds may precede the rains in areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur. Temperature values remain high, especially in the North, so staying hydrated is crucial. People with respiratory issues should be cautious, and children and the elderly should wear warm clothing at night.

Airline operators are advised to get updated weather reports and forecasts from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.
