Nigeria’s indigenous energy firm, Seplat Energy Plc, has announced first gas production from its ANOH Gas Project, marking the start of commercial operations at the gas processing facility.

In a Statement on Monday, the company said the 300 MMscfd ANOH Gas Processing Plant achieved first gas after completion of the 11 kilometre Indorama Gas Export Pipeline and receipt of approvals from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission.

The gas supply to Indorama, under firm and interruptible Gas Sales Agreements, commenced in January 2026, with four upstream Wells brought online to support initial deliveries.

The Wells had been on standby since November 2025 and were activated to enable the flow of gas into the processing Plant. Gas output from the facility is currently stabilising, with deliveries of 40–52 MMscfd of processed gas supplied directly from the ANOH Gas Plant to the Indorama Petrochemical Plant.

Seplat added that condensate production has reached about 2.0–2.5 kboepd and is expected to rise as the Plant ramps up toward its design capacity. Beyond initial gas supply, the preparations are underway to commence sales of processed gas to the Nigeria LNG Limited under an interruptible offtake arrangement.

This supply route will support the gradual scale up of production toward the Plant’s full processing capacity of 300 MMscfd.

Meanwhile, construction of the OB3 Pipeline export route by the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company has resumed, with a revised completion timeline to be communicated in due course.

Gas infrastructure and plant capacity

The ANOH Gas Plant is an integrated facility developed by the ANOH Gas Processing Company, a Joint Venture between Seplat Energy and the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company.

The integrated plant consists of two 150 MMscfd gas processing Units, Liquefied Petroleum Gas recovery Units, Condensate stabilisation Units, and a 16 MW Power Plant alongside other supporting Facilities.

The facility was designed to operate with zero routine flaring, aligning with Nigeria’s domestic gas utilisation and environmental objectives. Across the unitised field of OML 53 and OML 21, the ANOH Gas Plant unlocks an estimated 4.6 Tcf of Condensate rich gas resources.

Seplat’s working interest of 2P reserves in the unitised Field stood at 0.8 Tcf as at year 2024.

The revenue will be generated from two streams, including wet gas sales from OML 53 to the ANOH Gas Plant and dividends from its 50% equity holding in the ANOH Gas Processing Company.

What first gas means for Seplat

According to Seplat, the Liquefied Petroleum Gas produced from ANOH, alongside output from Sapele and the Bonny River Terminal, will strengthen its position as a domestic supplier of clean cooking fuel.

The ANOH Gas Plant will process flared gas from the Ohaji Field, supporting its onshore End of Routine Flaring Programme.

Roger Brown, Chief Executive Officer of Seplat Energy, said the ANOH Project is the first of seven critical gas development Projects identified by the Federal Government of Nigeria to commence operations.

“ANOH is the first of the seven critical gas development projects identified by Federal Government of Nigeria to commence operations,” Brown said.

He added that the Project required sustained commitment to deliver in a region with limited gas pipeline infrastructure.

“This is our third major gas processing facility onshore and increases our Joint Venture gross gas processing capacity onshore to over 850 MMscfd,” Brown stated.

The project will deliver material income streams, reduce carbon intensity, and support Seplat’s 2030 production target of 200 kboepd.
