Nigeria’s electricity generation has decreased to 3,521.37 megawatts recently, just two weeks after reaching a peak of 5,105 megawatts on July 27.
This information is based on the most recent 24-hour performance data from the National Grid.
The reported figure reflects the output from 22 power plants connected to the national grid. Egbin Power Plant led the contributions with 450 megawatts, while both Sapele National Integrated Power Plant (Gas) and Geregu NIPP (Gas) reported no generation.
This decline follows a statement from the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, who recently announced that the country had achieved a three-year high in electricity generation at 5,105 megawatts.e
Despite significant investments in the power sector, Nigeria continues to face challenges in maintaining electricity generation levels between 3,000 and 5,000 megawatts for a population exceeding 200 million.
