The Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI), Engr. Prof. Samson Duna at the commissioning of a block of three classrooms to the authorities of Dunama Primary school Lafia, Nasarawa State has stressed the need to uphold good maintenance culture in sustaining structures in the country.
Represented by the Head of Building Research Department of the Institute in Abuja, Engr. Dr. Jibrin Sule said the construction of the three classrooms was influenced by the Aliyu Bello Charity Foundation, with its founder, Honourable Aliyu Bello an alumnus of the school.
Bello, while expressing appreciation to the Institute for such gesture , he said the project is the kickstarter for a 2023 Aliyu Bello Educational Empowerment Programme which is the first of its kind in the state.
He assured that the Foundation is willing to partner with NBRRI and will take full responsibility for the maintenance of the structure.
There were goodwill messages from different stakeholders in the state and community including, a onetime head boy of the school (set 77), the PTA Chairman, Director of the Directorate of Linkages and Advancement, Federal University of Lafia, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Royal Fathers, among others.
Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman, Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Mohammed Dan Azumi represented by Hajiya Hashim Mohammed, promised that the Board is also ready to work with the Foundation in the maintenance of the structure.
