The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) reported a profit after tax of N748 billion ($623.3 million) in April 2025, according to its Monthly Financial and Operational Report released on Thursday, June 12.

The report also indicated a total revenue of N5.89 trillion ($4.91 billion) for the same month.

The figures were shared via the state owned energy company’s official X handle, showing that crude oil and condensate production stood at 1.56 million barrels per day (MMBOPD), down from 1.67 MMBOPD in January.

Natural gas production, however, rose to 7,473 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCF/D) from 7,120 MMSCF/D recorded in February.

In the report, NNPC stated that statutory payments made for the first quarter of 2025 amounted to N4.225 trillion ($3.52 billion).

It also noted that all production figures were provisional, unaudited, and only covered NNPC operated assets, excluding reports from independent operators supervised by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

Meanwhile, the national oil firm stated that the summary of the report is yet to the audited.

Operations and infrastructure updates

In addition, NNPC reported progress on several strategic projects.

These include technical interventions to address the River Niger crossing challenges on the AKK (Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano) and OB3 (Obiafu–Obrikom–Oben) gas pipeline projects.

The OB3 project is now 95% completed, while the AKK pipeline has reached 70% completion, the oil company noted.

Furthermore, the company said the state-owned refineries inPort Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna remain under technical review.

The company further stated that Final Investment Decisions (FIDs) on several major projects are expected by the fourth quarter of 2025.

These include the Ntokon Development (OML 102), Crude Oil Production Expansion Project (OML 29), Gas Development Projects (OML 30 and OML 42), and the Brass Fertilizer Project.

Pipeline availability in upstream operations was reported at 97%, a level NNPC described as satisfactory for sustaining supply continuity.

In sum, NNPC said its April performance reflects a steady drive to improve oil and gas infrastructure, strengthen energy output, and deliver socio economic benefits across multiple sectors in Nigeria.
