Laja Adeoye, the President and Chief Executive Officer of the esteemed Fendini Group, a prominent real estate developer, has underscored the pressing necessity for a resilient and viable housing policy in Nigeria to confront the ongoing housing deficit and foster the development of affordable mass housing.
In a discussion with journalists in Ibadan, Adeoye characterized the prevailing housing policy as outdated, accentuating the critical need for pragmatic measures and meticulously crafted strategies to effectively tackle the nation’s housing predicaments.
He pointed out the housing sector’s potential as a pivotal catalyst for economic revitalization, citizen empowerment, and unemployment reduction, urging all tiers of government to unite with professional entities in the housing domain and academic institutions to cultivate indigenous, efficient, and sustainable housing solutions.
Reiterating Fendini’s dedication to providing affordable luxury real estate through its flagship venture, Rayfield Gardens City Estate in Ibadan, Adeoye emphasized the necessity of formulating strategies that align with Nigeria’s distinctive realities.
Moreover, he advocated for enhanced promotion and utilization of local building materials, highlighting that public adoption has been hindered by the prevalent indifference toward these resources.
Adeoye commended the housing initiatives championed by the Oyo State government, particularly praising Governor Seyi Makinde for his visionary leadership and commitment to the state’s advancement.
He stated, “We express our heartfelt gratitude to the Oyo State Government for granting us the opportunity to develop the Rayfield Gardens City Estate. The government has played a crucial role in fostering a conducive environment, and we are diligently striving to adhere to project timelines.”
He also revealed an ambitious vision for Rayfield Gardens City, an increasingly prestigious residential estate in Ibadan poised to transform luxury and sustainable living within Nigeria’s real estate landscape, affirming, “Our goal is to forge a unique living experience, merging contemporary architecture with practical infrastructure, affordability, and accessibility along the Ibadan-Iwo route.”
According to him, the Rayfield Gardens City Estate, situated within the Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala GRA, Wofun area along the Ibadan-Iwo-Osogbo thoroughfare, encompasses 21 hectares and epitomizes a strategic Public-Private Partnership between the Oyo State Government and Fendini Group, facilitated by the Oyo State Investment and Public-Private Partnership Agency (OYSIPA).
He further noted that the estate has experienced a remarkable increase in construction activity, with hundreds of opulent duplexes and smart homes either completed and occupied or on the verge of completion, fueled by reliable electricity, well-established road networks, and other essential infrastructure driving swift expansion.
