Nigeria has been thrown into darkness once more following another collapse of the national grid.
The disruption in bulk power supply occurred around 11:20 AM on Thursday.
This marks the second grid failure this week and the twelfth occurrence in the past eleven months.
In a confirmation of the outage, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company stated:
“Dear Valued Customer,
“The current outage is due to a system collapse of the National Grid.
Our power system stakeholders are actively working to restore supply as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience.”
As of now, the Transmission Company of Nigeria has not released an official statement regarding the cause of Thursday’s grid failure. However, it is worth noting that the TCN attributed the previous collapse on Tuesday to issues with lines and generator trippings.
