Nigeria is plunged into darkness once more as the National grid experiences another collapse on Monday.

Emeka Ezeh, spokesperson for the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), confirmed the incident in a statement released on Monday evening.

The general system failure occurred at 6:48 PM, leading to widespread power outages across the EEDC’s service area.

“The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) informs its valued customers of a general system collapse that took place at 18:48 hours today, October 14, 2024. This has resulted in the loss of power supply across the EEDC network,” Ezeh stated.

He added, “As a result of this incident, all our interface Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) stations are without supply, preventing us from serving our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.”

Ezeh noted that the company is on standby, awaiting further details regarding the collapse and the restoration of power from the National Control Centre (NCC) in Osogbo.

Additionally, Eko Distribution Company also confirmed the grid failure, stating, “Dear Valued Customer,

Please be informed that a system collapse occurred at 18:48 hours, resulting in a loss of power supply across our network.

We are currently collaborating with our partners to expedite the restoration of the grid and will keep you updated as soon as power is restored.

We appreciate your patience during this time.”
