South Africa has eased its visa process for Nigerian visitors, granting qualifying business travelers a five-year multiple-entry visa. The announcement, made during the 11th Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) session in Cape Town, reflects South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s commitment to good governance and fostering stronger trade ties with Nigeria. This move eliminates the need for Nigerians to present passports during visa applications, streamlining access for businesspeople. Ramaphosa highlighted the 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations, emphasizing shared goals for sustainable development and economic collaboration. Nigeria also sought South Africa’s support for inclusion in global platforms like BRICS, the G20, and the BRICS New Development Bank to bolster its international influence. Established in 1999, the BNC has facilitated dialogue between the two countries, helping address mutual challenges in politics, economics, and social sectors.
