Casablanca’s rich history now has a home at the newly opened Casablanca Memory Museum, which showcases the city’s urban and social evolution from the early 20th century to today. Housed in the beautifully restored Villa Carl Ficke, a neoclassical landmark built in 1913, the museum features archival documents, maps, photographs, and artwork that chart the city’s growth. Once a symbol of wealth, the villa has served various roles, including as a detention center, before falling into disrepair. However, it was restored between 2016 and 2022, with a focus on reinforcing its structure and renovating its interior. The museum now attracts residents, students, and researchers and aims to become a hub for cultural exchange and heritage tourism.
