The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reported the execution of multiple air interdiction operations aimed at terrorist positions deep within the Alawa Forest, located in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
Air Commodore Olusola F. Akinboyewa, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, stated that these operations are part of efforts to support the restoration of power in Kaduna and other northwestern states.
“This mission is in line with ongoing initiatives to secure power infrastructure and ensure a seamless restoration of electricity to affected regions,” Akinboyewa explained.
The airstrikes were initiated following a series of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions that confirmed the presence of terrorist fighters gathering to disrupt power restoration efforts.
Acting promptly on this intelligence, the air component successfully planned and executed an airstrike to neutralize the identified threat.
“NAF crews observed and engaged the terrorists, effectively neutralizing several fighters and their logistical support with precise firepower,” he added.
In addition to these air interdictions, the NAF has ramped up armed reconnaissance along critical power lines from Shiroro Lake to Damba, ensuring airspace dominance to thwart any potential terrorist interference in the restoration process.
The NAF spokesperson emphasized that this ongoing mission highlights the NAF’s commitment to collaborating with other security agencies to protect vital infrastructure and facilitate the swift and complete restoration of essential services for Kaduna and its neighboring states.
