Minor Hotels has announced plans to introduce the Avani Hotels & Resorts brand to India with the Avani+ Sunray Beach Visakhapatnam Resort, scheduled for completion by 2028.
The development will feature 117 hotel rooms and 58 branded residential villas on a 25.5-acre site along Sunray Beach in Visakhapatnam.
The project marks the beginning of Minor Hotels’ expansion strategy in India, with targets to open 50 new properties across the country within the next decade.

Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor International and CEO of Minor Hotels, said: “We are pleased to announce the launch of this significant new project in Visakhapatnam. The Avani brand will offer an exceptional blend of contemporary design, upbeat service and elevated experiences for both hotel guests and residents alike. We look forward to bringing our expertise in delivering premium hospitality to this dynamic market.”
The resort will include three dining venues: an all-day restaurant, a specialty restaurant, and a bar. Additional amenities include a banqueting hall, AvaniSpa, swimming pool, beach bar, and AvaniFit gym.
A nine-hole par-three golf course will cater to both novices and experienced golfers seeking shorter rounds.
Located in Bhogapuram, the resort will benefit from its proximity to the upcoming Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport, expected to begin operations in 2026.
The development’s location near the Bay of Bengal and National Highways 16 and 26 aims to attract both domestic and international visitors.
Sunray Green Space Pvt Ltd, a Visakhapatnam-based real estate developer, will develop the project. The company’s founder and Managing Director, Mr. I.A. Raja Varma, has received multiple awards from the Andhra Pradesh Government for sustainable tourism projects.
The resort aims to serve Visakhapatnam’s growing commercial sector, MICE business, and leisure tourism market, supported by the development of Information Technology Special Economic Zones and infrastructure improvements in the area.
