

The Minister of Transportation, Sai’du Alkali, has announced that the Federal Government has triumphantly finalized about 135 transformative road projects throughout the Northern Region.
These advancements are designed to significantly improve the transportation of goods and people while invigorating the regional economy.
Alkali made this revelation during his enlightening presentation on infrastructure at a two-day interactive session concerning Government-citizens’ Engagement held on Wednesday in Kaduna.
The event, centered on the theme ‘Accessing Electoral Promises: Fostering Government-citizens’ Engagement for National Unity’, was organized by the distinguished Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation.
He further indicated that an astonishing 216 additional road construction projects are currently in progress within the region.
“Moreover, around 312 road maintenance projects have been successfully accomplished, with 50 more ongoing.
“Furthermore, various monumental projects spanning numerous states are underway, including the Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway, Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, Calabar–Abuja Superhighway, and the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Road.
“In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), 14 road projects have been successfully completed and inaugurated.
“Other notable accomplishments include the Greater Abuja Water Supply Network Project, the construction and rehabilitation of many primary and secondary education facilities, and the commissioning of three state-of-the-art bus terminals.
“It is also essential to highlight that President Bola Tinubu has sanctioned the construction of a mega bus terminal in each geopolitical zone of the country,” Alkali stated.
The minister continued by outlining that numerous other road construction, rehabilitation, and expansion projects are actively underway across the nation in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Alkali additionally explained that the Federal Government has secured funding for the entire corridor from Aba to Maiduguri, traversing Borno, Yobe, Gombe, Bauchi, Plateau, Kaduna, Nasarawa, and Benue. He also revealed that the government has rehabilitated the old Lagos-Kano Narrow Gauge and freight services, seamlessly linking Apapa to the Kano Inland Dry Port.
