Military tech developer MilDef has received a contract to deliver ruggedized cybersecurity equipment for BAE Systems Hägglunds’ CV90 tracked armored combat vehicles.

Valued at 40 million Swedish kroner ($3.9 million), the project will deliver hardware network solutions that will protect the vehicles from adversarial network attacks.

The package, potentially including the Helsingborg-based firm’s small form factor radios, handheld devices, communication electronics, and displays, will be supplied to the fleet as part of an ongoing contract awarded to Swedish defense contractor Clavister last December.

The terms of the project stipulate the outfitting of a “cyber armor” into the vehicles based on Clavister’s security gateway and secure network switch capabilities, which are operable in complex domains.

Work for this broader initiative is expected to run from the second half of 2025 until 2029.

“Clavister and MilDef build on a long and strong relationship where cyber software meets robust hardware,” Clavister CEO John Vestberg stated.

“In times of increased digitization of the armed forces, there is a clear need for significantly increased cyber security. For us, MilDef is the perfect partner in the work of equipping the defense capability of the future.”

Recent Cyber Contracts

MilDef won a similar contract in November 2024 to field rugged command and control systems for the Swedish Armed Forces.

A month earlier, the company signed another contract to equip information technology (IT) equipment for BAE Systems’ CV90 offering.

These IT solutions were also delivered to the Danish Armed Forces’ artillery systems in September, as well as the Swedish military’s weapon systems in August.

Also in August, MilDef delivered rugged computers for the CV90 vehicles currently employed under the Norwegian Armed Forces.
