In today’s high-risk operational environments, hidden threats such as landmines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) continue to endanger lives. Well-trained personnel can mean the difference between mission success and catastrophic failure. As a trusted provider of advanced detection technologies, MESAN meets this critical need with comprehensive detector training systems—enhancing operator accuracy, confidence, and reflexes under real-world conditions.

MESAN’s detector training portfolio includes two complementary systems—MERGEN PARKUR and MERGEN TiM—each with a unique focus but a shared goal: reducing errors and enhancing mission preparedness.”

MERGEN PARKUR: Virtual Reality Detector Training System
MERGEN PARKUR is an advanced virtual reality (VR) training system for detector operators, simulating real-world mine and improvised explosive device (IED) detection operations in a safe, immersive environment. Designed to replicate field conditions with high fidelity, it enables operators to gain realistic experience without physical risk.
Through 3D terrains and variable burial scenarios, trainees can practice full detection missions, improve signal interpretation, and develop instinctive operational behaviour. The system trains users on mine/IED search techniques, target marking, and detector handling—all under the supervision of an instructor who monitors each session in real time.

At the end of each session, MERGEN PARKUR automatically generates a comprehensive performance report, which includes:

  • The ratio of detected to buried mines
  • Missed targets
  • Sweeping metrics (such as height, speed, and wrist angle)
  • Mapped data on scanned and unscanned areas

Additional training modules include:

  • Detector Introduction
  • Target Detection Training
  • Detector Maintenance & Repair Procedures

The system provides audio and visual alerts that vary according to mine content and burial depth, replicating real-world detector responses in the field. Multiple maps and mine/IED configurations further enhance training scenarios.

With its data-driven structure and instructor oversight tools, MERGEN PARKUR not only enhances individual skills but also ensures mission readiness through measurable performance improvements—making it a crucial asset for modern demining and counter-IED teams.

MERGEN TiM: Detector Training System
MERGEN TiM is a detector training system specifically designed to build correct sweeping habits through hands-on, field-based practice. MERGEN TiM focuses on physical execution and muscle memory, it minimizes operational errors by transforming proper detector techniques into instinctive reflexes.
Equipped with lightweight sensor units worn by trainees, the system detects common sweeping errors such as incorrect height, speed, arc, and wrist angle. When a deviation is detected, real-time visual and audible feedback is provided to the user.

  • The system features:
  • 5 simultaneous sensor units for team training
  • A trainer tablet with KUTAD software for real-time performance monitoring
  • Wireless communication infrastructure
  • A multi-charging dock
  • Detailed user-specific performance tracking by ID, rank, or name
  • Automated training reports, including long-term performance metrics

Thanks to its flexibility and detector-independent design, MERGEN TiM enables team commanders to conduct regular training programs, ensuring continuous mission readiness for all field personnel.

A Unified Training Ecosystem for Operational Superiority
Together, MERGEN PARKUR and MERGEN TiM form a robust, end-to-end detector training ecosystem that prepares personnel both mentally and physically for the complexities of mine and IED detection. Whether training in virtual scenarios or real-time corrections on field techniques, MESAN delivers a powerful combination of innovation and operational practicality—because in the field, every second counts, and every movement matters.
