The African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF)’s elected a new council to steer and lead the organisation for the next two years.

LAGOS – The African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF)’s elected a new council to steer and lead the organisation for the next two years.

ATAF in collaboration with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) convened in Lagos continental tax practitioners, Revenue Administrators and other international stakeholders to discuss on how to improve African revenue strategies. Furthermore, this has been an opportunity for ATAF country members to re-ensure its destiny, by electing a new council that will guide ATAF strategic planning and implementation until 2024. 

This happened during a closed session of the 7th General Assembly (GA) that took place from 31 October – 4 November 2022.



Meet the new Council Members:




Chairperson:



Togo – Dr Philippe Koukou Tchodie 



Vice-Chairperson:



South Africa – Mr Edward Kieswetter 




Members of Council: 



  • Botswana – Ms Jeanette Chanda Makgolo

  • Burundi – Mr Jean Claude Manirakiza

  • Nigeria – Mr Muhammad Nami

  • Morocco – Mr Younes Idrissi Kaitouni

  • Rwanda – Mr Pascal Bizimana Ruganintwali

  • The Gambia – Mr Yankuba Darboe

  • Uganda – Mr John Musinguzi

  • Zambia – Mr Dingani Banda




The previous Council started in January 2020 and was chosen virtually during the


COVID-19


lockdown owing to the impact of the pandemic. In partnership with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) under the theme “Rethinking Revenue Strategies: The Human Face of Taxation’, the 7th GA attracted 498 registered delegates from 53 countries including Heads of Tax Administrations from 39 African countries.


The Secretariat wishes the new Council a fruitful and successful two years ahead to steer and lead the organisation to even greater heights.
