The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors 103-96 on Friday night in Las Vegas with another masterclass from Max Christie in the 2023 NBA Summer League.
Christie, 20, is heading into his second year in the league and already looks way ahead of the competition at this summer’s tournament. He finished the win over Golden State with a team-high 22 points.

The young guard is coming off a 25-point performance against the San Antonio Spurs in a California Classic Summer League game.
He followed that up with another 20-point game on 6-for-11 shooting from the field and added seven rebounds, two assists, and two blocks.
Christie was only outscored by Warriors forward Gui Santos, who put up a game-high 25 points on 15 shots.
Max Christie has bulked up this offseason
Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka appeared on the broadcast and raved about Christie’s progress, saying he has gained 15 pounds of muscle this offseason.
Christie was selected with the 35th pick in the second round, but the Purple & Gold have been known to hit on late prospects.
Jalen Hood-Schifino was the 17th overall pick this year and struggled shooting, to say the least, going 3-for-11 from the field for just nine points.
Cole Swider, meanwhile, an undrafted talent that joined the LA franchise last season, scored 19 points. Lakers face the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday. They are coming off a loss to Victor Wembanyama‘s Spurs.
