Over 50 youth graduated today with technical and financial literacy skills through KCB https://ke.kcbgroup.com/Foundation’s 2Jiajiri programme, in partnership with Matuga Constituency NG-CDF.
The training, conducted at Rashmmy Beauty College and Tiwi Vocational Training Center, focused on Beauty and Therapy. After nine months of hands-on learning, the graduates earned a Grade III certification.
To support their next steps, the top 20 performers received comprehensive starter toolkits. These kits will help them launch micro-enterprises and create jobs for fellow youth in their communities.
During the ceremony held at Matuga Technical and Vocational College, KCB Foundation Head of Programmes Bernard Barasa said, “At KCB Foundation, we are committed to creating opportunities for Kenyan youth across our communities. By partnering with constituencies, we ensure that these opportunities are equitably distributed, kicking off a transformative journey towards self-reliance and economic prosperity.”
Youth Empowerment Through Public-Private Partnerships
Matuga MP, Hon. Tandaza Kassim, praised the partnership between the 2Jiajiri initiative and Matuga NG-CDF. He called it a strong example of how public-private partnerships can solve community challenges and drive transformation. “We will continue to find opportunities for our youth, as they hold the power to positively transform our communities. When equipped, they serve as catalysts of growth,” he added.

KCB Foundation and Mastercard Foundation have been working with county governments, the National Government, and other partners to implement the Young Africa Works (YAW) program. The program equips young people with technical skills that prepare them for success in the job market.
Each training runs for six months—three months in class and three months of industrial attachment. This structure addresses key technical skills gaps.
After completing their training, participants either transition into existing jobs or receive help to start micro-enterprises. KCB Bank, through the KCB Foundation, supports aspiring entrepreneurs with Business Development Services (BDS), trade-specific starter toolkits, and access to working capital.
Since 2016, the 2Jiajiri programme has trained 35,195 youth and created 150,555 jobs across Kenya. Currently, 10,954 youth are under mentorship through KCB Foundation’s business development officers. The Bank has also disbursed KES 267 million in loans to youth-led businesses and provided 2,225 startup toolkits. Additionally, 6,535 businesses have completed financial literacy training.
