Key Dates for Individual Taxpayers:

Auto-Assessment Notices: To streamline the tax filing process, SARS will issue auto-assessment notices from 1 July 2024 to 14 July 2024. These notices will be sent to taxpayers who have straightforward tax affairs and whose tax data can be readily verified against third-party data sources. Taxpayers are advised to review these notices carefully and take action if there are any discrepancies.

Non-Provisional Taxpayers: The filing season for individual taxpayers who are not provisional taxpayers will commence on 15 July 2024 and run through to 21 October 2024. During this period, taxpayers are encouraged to make use of eFiling or the SARS MobiApp to file their income tax returns.

Provisional Taxpayers: For individuals classified as provisional taxpayers, the filing period extends from 15 July 2024 to 20 January 2025. This extended timeline is designed to accommodate the complexities often associated with provisional tax filings, allowing for thorough and accurate submissions.

Important Reminders for Taxpayers:

Review and Verify: Whether you receive an auto-assessment notice or file manually, it is crucial to review all information for accuracy. Inaccurate or incomplete returns can lead to delays and potential penalties.

Use eFiling: SARS encourages the use of its eFiling platform for a quicker, more efficient filing process. The eFiling system is designed to handle a large volume of submissions and offers step-by-step guidance to help taxpayers complete their returns accurately.

Stay Informed: Keep up to date with any announcements or changes from SARS regarding the filing season. Regularly visit the SARS website or contact their support services for assistance if needed.

By adhering to the confirmed dates and guidelines provided by SARS, you can ensure compliance and avoid the stress and penalties associated with late or incorrect filings. Should you require any assistance or experience difficulties with the 2024 tax filing season, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Make 2024 the year you take control of your taxes and enjoy a smoother, stress-free filing experience.
