M-PESA Sokoni Tour Kicks Off in Rift Region
Safaricom has launched the second leg of its M-PESA Sokoni ‘Maisha Fiti, Biz Shwari’ tour in the Rift Valley. This follows a successful rollout in the Coast region earlier in June.
The caravan is part of the M-PESA @18 celebrations, which mark 18 years of innovation and community impact. It aims to reward loyal customers through fun activities, giveaways, and engaging community forums.
The tour started in Turbo, where Safaricom handed out shopping vouchers, electronics, cash rewards, and branded merchandise. The crowd-favourite game “M-PESA or the Box” added to the excitement, as participants won surprise gifts. The caravan will move through Matunda, Moi’s Bridge, Kitale, Eldoret, Baringo, and Nakuru over the coming days.
“We began our M-PESA Sokoni Festival in the Coast region and now we’re excited to bring this energy to Rift Valley,” said Safaricom CEO Dr. Peter Ndegwa. “This celebration is our way of saying thank you to our customers for being part of the M-PESA journey.”

A Week of Celebration, Empowerment, and Community Engagement
The week began with a caravan flag-off in Turbo. Activities lined up include the Safire Connect Forum, which will promote financial wellness and digital literacy for aspiring entrepreneurs.
On Wednesday, the M-PESA Foundation will launch Phase 7 of the Ndoto Zetu Programme, which supports grassroots changemakers making a difference in their communities.
Additionally, the Wezesha Mama initiative will provide women with business skills, financial literacy training, and seed capital to help grow their ventures.
On Thursday, the Grow with Safaricom Business Forum will bring together medium and large enterprises. Discussions will focus on using technology to scale and secure business operations.
That same day, the Hook Circle Youth Workshop will equip young people with practical skills to thrive in their careers. Meanwhile, the M-PESA Agents Awards will celebrate the hard work and resilience of M-PESA agents across the region.
The tour wraps up on Friday with another Grow with Safaricom Forum, this time dedicated to small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Sessions will tackle common barriers like limited access to markets, digitisation challenges, and brand visibility.
Throughout the M-PESA Sokoni tour, Safaricom is also educating customers on key products like Ziidi MMF, Fuliza ya Biashara, Pochi la Biashara, Lipa na M-PESA, and Safaricom Hook.
These tools aim to help individuals and businesses improve their financial health and thrive in Kenya’s fast-evolving digital economy.
