M-PESA Foundation has commenced a KES 110 million project to establish learning facilities at Mukuyuni and Kabuyefwe Primary Schools in Trans-Nzoia County, aiming to improve education outcomes.
At Mukuyuni Primary, the Foundation is investing KES 55 million for the construction of classrooms spanning Grades 1 through 9, alongside an ICT lab, kitchen, ablution blocks for boys, girls, and staff, and three ECDE classrooms with an office. Additionally, this project includes a gated perimeter fence, water tanks, and classroom furniture. Joseph Ogutu, Chairman of Safaricom Foundation, reiterated the Foundation’s dedication to uplifting education and supporting communities in need.
Kabuyefwe Primary will also receive a KES 55 million investment for 12 new classrooms, junior school classrooms, an ICT lab, ECDE facilities, and a kitchen.
Since 2010, M-PESA Foundation’s educational initiatives have positively impacted over 1.3 million learners across Kenya, including programs such as the M-PESA Foundation Academy, which enrolls disadvantaged children. Over the next three years, the Foundation targets reaching three million more learners with a scholarship program for senior students and technical and vocational training (TVET) initiatives to foster youth employability.
