Timboiywo Primary Gets Classrooms, Science Lab, and Sanitation Boost
Learners at Timboiywo Primary School are set to benefit from a KES 40 million renovation project by the M-Pesa Foundation.
The Foundation launched the project to expand and improve school infrastructure in Baringo Central Sub-county, an area where many schools still face resource constraints.
New Classrooms, Labs and Early Education Support
The project will deliver new classrooms for Grades 1 to 9, helping ease congestion and improve learning conditions.
The school will also receive a new Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) block to support foundational learning for younger children.
In a significant step forward, M-Pesa Foundation will also build a fully equipped science laboratory. This will allow learners to take part in hands-on science education — a major boost to STEM learning in the region.
Boosting Sanitation for Better Health
To promote hygiene, the project includes new ablution blocks for students and staff. Clean and safe sanitation will help reduce illness and keep children in school consistently.

Commitment to Transforming Education
“Education is a key pillar for us,” said Joseph Ogutu, Chairman of the Safaricom Foundation.
“Our aim is to provide inclusive and equitable education by working with partners across the country.”
The M-Pesa Foundation continues to work closely with county governments and the Ministry of Education to align its efforts with Kenya’s national education goals.
Bridging Gaps in Underserved Areas
According to the Ministry of Education, rural schools like Timboiywo often struggle with inadequate facilities, poor infrastructure, and overcrowded classrooms.
By investing in these schools, the Foundation helps reduce inequality and improve academic outcomes in remote areas.
A Track Record of Impact
M-Pesa Foundation has delivered several successful education projects in Baringo.
In January 2025, it completed renovations at Marram Primary School. In December 2024, it launched a state-of-the-art resource centre at Claude Academy.
Other schools that have benefited include Kapropita Girls, Sirwa Primary, and Mogotio Primary.
To date, the Foundation has invested billions in education projects across Kenya, focusing on infrastructure, digital literacy, mentorship, and teacher support.
Looking Ahead
Beyond infrastructure, the Foundation is exploring partnerships to integrate digital learning tools and mentorship programs. These will help students build 21st-century skills and unlock new opportunities.
Through continued investment in underserved communities, M-Pesa Foundation is building more than schools — it’s building futures.
