To address the long-term housing shortage in Lagos State and the country as a whole, private developers have been assured of full cooperation by the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
“We encourage private developers that the current administration is in total support of such laudable projects to actualize the mega city aspiration,” the governor said, speaking on behalf of the Chairman of the Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Adebayo Aremu Olasoju, at the launch of the Greenfield Estate Community Development Association (CDA) Secretariat and end-of-year party in Ago Palace, Okota.
Monday Akunna, the Chairman of the CDA, had earlier stated: “When I moved into Greenfield Estate for the first time in 2010, I never thought a day like today would happen. I will recognise the contributions made by previous estate leaders, such as the late Chief Monday Imo, who served as the estate’s first chairman until 2009. Greenfield Estate replaced Bashorun Estate as the name of the estate under his administration. Under his leadership, the then-swampy woodland was electrified, and security measures were put in place to protect everyone’s property and life.
The security framework was continuously enhanced by succeeding administrations. “The goal of the party is to unite CDAs within the Okota axis,” stated Afam Chukwuma, chairman of the organising committee. The state and local municipalities would benefit socially and politically from a unified population of Ago Palace. The state of Ago Palace Road is steadily declining, reminding us of the impenetrable years between 2008 and 2015. To ensure that the road is adequately maintained and restored, we must band together.
“The state and local councils are being brought to Greenfield to recognise our efforts in developing the community and to inquire about potential compensation for our good works. Additionally, we want to make sure that the government supports our efforts by bringing additional resources to Greenfield.”
If built, the canal view road is a significant thoroughfare that might relieve traffic on the Ago Palace axis. Therefore, we are pleading with the authorities to investigate that matter.
“We are inviting the business community to this event because we believe it will undoubtedly bring like minds together and hopefully result in business deals.”
