Unsuspecting Nigerians have been urged to be wary and to avoid falling into the hands of fraudsters luring them to fictitious online sites to obtain Lagos-Ibadan train tickets.
The warning was dropped yesterday by the Nigerian Railway Corporation‘s Deputy Director Public Relations, Mamood Yakub, in aLagos-Ibadan train tickets. statement made available to journalists.
He said the corporation is yet to commence selling the Lagos to Ibadan rail ticket online, and urged any member of the public who wish to make use of the train, to approach the railway station to obtain their train tickets.
Yakub stated that the cyber criminals have developed a website to which they were inviting members of the general public to obtain a Lagos to Ibadan train ticket.
Explaining that this may have been done to scam unsuspecting train passengers, Yakub explained that the railway corporation has not commenced selling the Lagos to Ibadan train tickets online.
The NRC, he stressed, is yet to commence selling Lagos to Ibadan train tickets online. “This may have been done by fraudsters intending to scam unsuspecting train passengers, hence NRC is hereby advising Lagos to Ibadan train passengers to be wary of these fraudulent cyber space criminal, by obtaining their train boarding tickets at Railway stations as NRC is working hard to introduce secured online ticketing on Lagos to Ibadan and Warri to Itakpe train services very soon.”
