L3Harris has secured a contract to provide its Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) onboard the Australian Navy’s Hunter-class frigates.
Under the agreement awarded by BAE Systems Maritime Australia, L3Harris will design and deliver the IPMS to provide integrated monitoring and control of ship propulsion, electrical functions, damage control machinery, and systems for the vessels.

The company has progressively updated the IPMS, integrating it into more than 300 vessels in 27 navies worldwide.
Hunter-Class Program
The Hunter-class frigates program is designed to equip the Royal Australian Navy with advanced capabilities required for major surface combat operations.
In June last year, BAE Systems started building the first of six Hunter-class heavy frigates as part of a $26-billion contract signed in 2018.
Under the program, Canberra will replace its aging Anzac warships, which have been in service since the 1990s.
Construction is taking place at the Osborne Naval Shipyard in South Australia, where the first Hunter vessel is scheduled to reach operational capability by the early 2030s.
BAE Systems will build the warships with a low-noise hull and equip them with advanced sonar systems.
Moreover, the vessels will incorporate a modular digital design and open systems architecture to facilitate upgrades and integration of new technology.
