Ksh 12 Million Injected Towards Empowerment Programmes And Education By NCBA

The Scholarships have been distributed among the Group`s various education partners to bridge existing funding gaps and ensure more young Kenyans achieve their dreams.

NCBA has  announced the allocation of KES 12 million to over 150 students through various partners, as part of its KES 100 million annual pledge that is designated to positively impact communities throughout the country.

The funds have been disbursed and implemented through several partners including; Edumed Trust, Dr. Choksey Albinism Foundation, M-PESA Foundation Academy, SOS Children’s Villages Kenya, Palmhouse Foundation, Daraja Kenya Initiative, KENSAP, WEDCO and Kianda Foundation.

The endowment will see the recipients of the scholarships get into empowerment programmes focusing on entrepreneurship and education.

This will ensure that Kenyan youth continue to play a vital role in Kenya’s socio-economic development.

Speaking at the cheque handover ceremony, NCBA Group Managing Director, Mr. John Gachora said, “We believe in the power of education to shape the future, and to top it up, we want to strengthen our mentorship initiatives to ensure that the students are well rounded individuals who will be confident leaders in their communities, as we work towards having them paying their knowledge forward. We want to create a lasting impact by instilling a sense of responsibility and leadership in our young people.”

To start with, the bank has revived its Boys Mentorship Programme in partnership with the Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF).

This is set to have a long-lasting impact on young men by equipping them with tools to navigate challenges and develop leadership potential at Upperhill Boys High School.

In line with NCBA’s Sustainability platform “Change The Story”, the cheque handover event was held at Nairobi Railway Museum.

A visit to the Museum is not just about history, it’s a valuable lesson in how past innovations can inform a greener, more sustainable future.

Exposure to historical railway advancements inspires students to think about sustainable engineering solutions, such as modern electric trains, solar-powered transportation and urban mobility planning.

As part of its Citizenship efforts, NCBA remains committed to promoting social welfare, environmental sustainability and economic empowerment across the region.

To commemorate the day, NCBA along with the partners and beneficiaries planted trees at Nairobi Railway Museum.

With this contribution, the Group reaffirms its role as a leader in community-driven initiatives that aim to create transformative and sustainable change.
