Kiragu and Team Cruises To Victory At KCB Golf Series In Ruiru

The four-ball of Tabitha Kiragu, Peter Thuku, Joseph Kamiri and Jacob Theuri returned a combined score of 104 points to be crowned the overall winners of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour at the par 72 Ruiru Sports Club on Saturday.

Kiragu’s team reigned supreme over the team of Kimani Munyua, Catherine Kamene, Rose Kagio and Michael Waititu who returned a combined score of 101 points to emerge as the runner-up team.

Both teams will compete in the tour’s grand finale slated for December 6 at the Sigona Golf Club.

Speaking after their win, Kiragu said: “It is an honor to win the last leg of the KCB Golf Series. Despite tough competition and less-than-ideal weather, we persevered. A big thank you to my four-ball for an amazing outing—we’re excited to represent Ruiru at the grand finale.”

Handicap 23 golfer Kamau Wangondu, carded an excellent 42 stableford points to be named the overall winner of the day.

Joseph Kamiri who plays off handicap 18, returned 40 points to bag the men’s winner award at the tourney that was headlined by 204 golfers.

Emmaculate Mbugua, who plays off handicap 26, returned 40 stableford points to win the highly contested ladies’ category. Ryan Waithata, a fast rising golfer, who plays off handicap 44, returned 44 points to claim the junior’s category.

Anthony Muita, who plays off handicap 10, returned 37 points to scoop the guest winner award while Allan Kirui, who plays off handicap 22, returned 36 points to take home the staff winner award – beating Nelson (handicap 21), who came in second with 34 points.

Longest hitting Elly Limo was bagged the longest drive award in the men’s category while Francisca Korir clinched it in the ladies’ category. Rhoda Mukami was the nearest to the pin.

On Sunday, KCB hosted a junior’s golf clinic in a bid to expand the sport and a tree planting exercise to strengthen its environment conservation efforts through the golf series. On Monday, caddies will compete at the same venue in a tournament organized by the bank.
