Kenya’s digital transformation is accelerating, according to the latest Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) Sector Statistics Report for April–June 2025, which shows strong growth in mobile, broadband, and digital service uptake during the 2024/2025 financial year.
The report attributes this progress to expanded network infrastructure, competitive pricing, and increasing demand for digital services. Mobile coverage reached 97.3% for 4G and 30% for 5G, while the rollout of 2,275 km of fiber under the Digital Superhighway project, in partnership with the ICT Authority, greatly enhanced broadband connectivity. Smartphone penetration climbed to 83.5%, driving internet access and data consumption nationwide.

The report also warned of rising cyber threats, which surged 80.8%, totaling 4.6 billion incidents, partly due to enhanced monitoring by the National KE-CIRT.
Overall, Kenya’s digital growth is being fueled by affordable smart devices, stronger infrastructure, and the growing integration of online services—from e-commerce to e-government—cementing the internet’s role in national development.
