A powerful new initiative aimed at combating gender-based violence (GBV) within communities is set to launch in Washington State through an inspiring event titled “A New Dawn: Blossoming Beyond Abuse.” The event will take place on March 21, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Family Life Center in Federal Way, Washington, bringing together advocates, community leaders, and survivors to raise awareness and promote healing.

The event marks the official launch of the Blossom Beyond Abuse Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by Alice Wamburi, dedicated to eradicating gender-based violence and advocating for safer, more supportive communities for women, families, and vulnerable individuals.

According to organizers, the evening will feature powerful personal testimonies, educational discussions, and inspirational messages aimed at empowering survivors while mobilizing communities to take action against abuse.

Addressing a Global Human Rights Challenge

Gender-based violence remains one of the most pressing human rights challenges worldwide. It disproportionately affects women and girls and often leaves deep emotional, social, and economic scars on individuals and families.

Organizers say the foundation seeks to confront this crisis by creating awareness, offering support systems, and encouraging communities to stand together against abuse.

“Gender-based violence destabilizes families, erodes the dignity of our communities, and sidelines productive individuals within our ecosystem,” organizers stated, emphasizing that collective action is essential to build safer societies both in Kenya and within the global diaspora.

Distinguished Speakers and Community Leaders

The event will feature several respected speakers and advocates who have dedicated their lives to community empowerment and social justice.

Key speakers include:

  • Dianah Kamande – CEO of Come Together Widows & Orphans Organization and keynote speaker
  • Sam Mwangi – Executive Director of the Global Fatherhood Foundation
  • Dr. Edna Kemboi – CEO and Founder of Thrive After Divorce
  • Ruth Mbari – CEO of Kinship Family Restoration Services and event MC

The event will be hosted by Alice Wamburi, Founder and CEO of the Blossom Beyond Abuse Foundation, who has been a passionate advocate for survivors of abuse and community empowerment.

A Platform for Healing and Empowerment

Beyond speeches and discussions, the event promises an atmosphere of hope, healing, and empowerment. Survivors will share testimonies of resilience and recovery, demonstrating how communities can transform pain into strength.

The goal is to encourage individuals and organizations to collaborate in building systems of protection, support, and education that help prevent abuse and promote equality.

Organizers say the evening will include moments of laughter, reflection, and connection, emphasizing the importance of community solidarity in overcoming trauma.
