Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), General Charles Kahariri, today hosted a delegation from the Italian Air Force at Defence Headquarters in Nairobi. The delegation was led by Lieutenant General Luca Goretti, Commander of the Italian Air Force.

Discussions focused on enhancing Kenya-Italy defence relations through cooperation in training, equipment acquisition, and strategic initiatives at the Luigi Broglio Space Centre in Malindi.

The CDF also explored expanding collaboration in space technology, including geo-imagery, disaster management, UAV manufacturing, and AI-related defence capabilities.

Additionally, he emphasized the need to finalize the Defence Cooperation Agreement to strengthen technology partnerships and build local capacity for maintaining military assets.

Present at the meeting were Assistant Chief of Defence Forces Operations, Doctrine & Training, Major General Frederick Leuria, Assistant Chief of Defence Forces Personnel & Logistics, Major General David Keter, Director General Defence National Security Industries, Maj Gen Bernard Waliaula, Italian Ambassador to Kenya H.E. Roberto Natali, Italy’s Defence Attaché Captain Mario de Rosa, and other senior military officers.
