KSh 30M Youth Skilling Programme to Create Jobs, Support Self-Employment
KCB Foundation has partnered with Nyamira County in a KSh 30 million youth skilling initiative under the 2Jiajiri programme. The funds, contributed on a 1:1 ratio, will equip youth with technical skills and promote self-employment through enterprise development.
The programme will train young people in key sectors like automotive engineering, construction, electrical installation, beauty, domestic services, and agribusiness. Training will last 3–6 months, followed by a NITA Grade 3 assessment. Graduates will also benefit from job placements, internships, and business development support from KCB Foundation.

“The operationalisation of the County SME fund is a testament to our commitment to catalyse economic growth and tackle youth unemployment,” said KCB Foundation Director, Mendi Njonjo. “With Nyamira County on board, we look forward to nurturing small and medium enterprises run by the youth.”
MSMEs to Access Affordable Credit, Diaspora Banking, and Market Linkages
The deal also includes support for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through a proposed KSh 100 million Fund. This will offer MSMEs affordable loans, financial literacy training, and access to new markets.
KCB Foundation will also provide diaspora banking services for Nyamira County residents living abroad.

“Credit is the lifeline that MSMEs need to survive,” said Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo. “We have set up this credit fund to build a healthy local economy that creates jobs and grows businesses. I urge all MSMEs in the county to take full advantage.”
Governor Nyaribo also emphasized the importance of the youth skilling initiative. “Young people make up the majority of the working-age population in Nyamira. By equipping them with practical skills, we can drive economic growth and create sustainable employment.”
Since 2016, the 2Jiajiri programme has trained 35,195 youth and created over 150,000 jobs nationwide. So far, KCB Bank has disbursed KSh 267 million in loans to youth-led businesses and issued 2,225 toolkits. Over 6,500 businesses have also received financial literacy training.
