KCB Foundation Empowers 340 Youth with Technical Skills in Nandi County
KCB Foundation has empowered 340 youth from 10 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions through its 2jiajiri program.
These graduates, who completed their training in Nandi County, are now equipped with hands-on skills for self-employment and job creation.
The graduation represents a major milestone in the ongoing partnership between KCB Foundation and Mastercard Foundation under the Young Africa Works (YAW) initiative.
Over the past year, the program has reached 8,500 young people across various sectors. So far, it has helped create more than 43,000 jobs across the country.
While addressing the graduates, KCB Foundation Director Mendi Njonjo said the 2jiajiri program is making a tangible difference in the lives of young people.
She noted that the trainees now have the skills and mindset needed to build their own businesses or access meaningful employment.

Skills Training for Jobs and Entrepreneurship
The program targets vulnerable youth with practical training that lasts between 6 and 9 months. It combines classroom learning, life skills, and enterprise development.
Each cohort undergoes six months of in-class instruction followed by a three-month industrial attachment.
After training, the youth either join the job market or receive support to start their own businesses. KCB Foundation provides them with Business Development Services (BDS), trade-specific toolkits, and access to startup capital through KCB Bank.
During the graduation ceremony, attended by Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, government officials, and industry stakeholders, 136 graduates received toolkits to support their business ventures.
To date, 2jiajiri has trained over 40,000 youth and facilitated the creation of 179,822 jobs. Additionally, KCB has disbursed nearly Ksh. 1.7 billion in startup loans and provided over 2,225 toolkits.
Through this program, KCB Foundation continues to promote economic inclusion and youth-led change across Kenya.
