KCB Foundation Empowers 300 Students with 2025 University Scholarships
KCB Foundation has officially launched its 2025 University Scholarship Programme, sending off 300 students. These scholars join 588 others currently studying at universities and colleges across Kenya.
This marks the fourth cohort of the programme, which started in 2021 as part of KCB’s annual education initiative. The programme ensures 10% of opportunities are allocated to students with disabilities, and 50% of slots are reserved for girls. It supports vulnerable groups, including orphans, victims of harmful cultural practices like FGM, teenage mothers, and students from high-poverty areas.

Key Highlights
KCB has invested KES 100 million to fund tuition fees and provide mentorship throughout the duration of their studies at Kenyan universities, colleges, and vocational institutions. The foundation aims to offer continuous psychosocial support to the students.
Basic Education Principal Secretary, Julius Bitok, highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in bridging gaps in the education sector, adding, “We continue to support initiatives like the 100% Transition Policy and the Competency-Based Curriculum to ensure holistic learning and skills development.”

KCB Group CEO, Paul Russo, emphasized the importance of making university education accessible to marginalized students. “We intentionally target vulnerable learners at risk of dropping out, offering them a chance to transform society. By prioritizing education, we aim to tackle challenges like poverty, unemployment, and marginalization,” Russo stated.
The scholarship also includes annual mentorship to guide students in unlocking opportunities within their fields of study and professional development.
