KCB Awards 1,000 Senior School Scholarships, Commits KSh600M

KCB Foundation has awarded 1,000 full scholarships to academically gifted and financially vulnerable students set to join Kenya Senior Schools next week.

Through the initiative, the Foundation has committed KSh600 million to support the 2026 cohort through secondary school and university.

As a result, the programme strengthens KCB’s long-standing focus on inclusive education and national talent development.

Comprehensive Support for Learners

The scholarship package covers school fees, uniforms, stipends, and basic learning needs. In addition, the Foundation will invest in talent development to ensure scholars grow both academically and personally.

Notably, KCB reserved 120 slots for learners from vulnerable groups. These include teen mothers, persons living with disabilities, and students affected by harmful cultural practices such as female genital mutilation.

By doing so, the Foundation continues to widen access to education for learners who often face systemic barriers.

Growing Focus on Sports and Holistic Growth

Beyond academics, KCB Foundation has expanded its support for student-athletes. This year, it admitted 75 new sports scholars, raising the total number supported since 2024 to 125.

The Foundation officially flagged off the new cohort in Nairobi. Meanwhile, the scholars are expected to report to their respective schools in the coming week.

Aligning Education With the Future Economy

Speaking during the event, KCB Group Director for Marketing and Communications Rosalind Gichuru said the programme reflects the Group’s core purpose.

“At the heart of KCB Group is transforming lives and nurturing talent across the country,” she said.

“Through this holistic scholarship model, we are reshaping the education landscape for the better.”

As Kenya transitions to the Competency-Based Education curriculum, KCB Foundation has aligned its scholarship model accordingly.

Consequently, the programme now places stronger emphasis on creativity, critical thinking, and overall learner development.

KCB Foundation Director Mendi Njonjo added that the organisation plans to scale the programme further.

“We are expanding the scholarship programme to reach more deserving learners across the country,” she said.

A Long-Term Commitment to Education

Since extending its scholarships to include tertiary education in 2021, KCB Foundation has supported more than 950 students nationwide.

Overall, since its establishment in 2007, the Foundation has impacted over 7,000 learners across Kenya.

This milestone underscores KCB’s sustained commitment to education as a pathway to opportunity and national growth.
