Karan Patel eyes Continental Glory this Weekend in Tanzania

KCB racing team driver Karan Patel is in search of the African Rally Championship (ARC) title as he takes on the tough Tanzanian terrain at the competition’s last leg this weekend.

The driver, and his navigator Tauseef Khan currently leads the ARC standings with an impressive 120 points, closely followed by Uganda’s Jas Magat with 111 points. Yassin Nasser, despite facing setbacks in the Zambia event, remains a formidable contender with 93 points.

A finish in the top three will automatically grant Karan the coveted title showing the athlete’s determination, going from the KNRC champion in 2022 to ARC Champion in 2023.

Speaking ahead of the rally, Karan said: “Tauseef and I have been consistent throughout the circuit, and we are optimistic we can get a podium finish in Tanzania to claim the overall title. We have worked so hard to be here today because during the 2023 WRC Safari Rally, we faced tremendous challenges, but we did not let them deter our quest for glory on home soil.”

The duo has left for Tanzania ahead of the much-anticipated spectacle that revs off on Saturday with a culmination on Sunday as top drivers fight for the overall title.

The rally, also known as the Asas rally of Tanzania, will see some of the best drivers fiercely compete as rally enthusiasts from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia, and the host nation Tanzania converge for the event.

Participants are expected to navigate the challenging course with a total distance of 370 Kilometers that will ultimately put their driving prowess to the test as curtains fall on this year’s circuit.

After the Tanzania rally, Karan will then start his preparations for the 2024 WRC Safari Rally that is slated for March 28-31 in Naivasha.
