The decision was made on Tuesday after the assembly adopted the report of its committee on local government and chieftaincy affairs. The committee found that Diso had sold government lands without authorization and had made decisions without consulting his councillors.
Six out of 10 councillors in the LGA had petitioned the assembly against Diso, saying they were not comfortable with his activities.
The assembly set up an ad hoc committee to investigate the allegations and report back in two months. In the meantime, the vice chairman of the council will take over.
