Johannesburg Water will temporarily stop the daily restriction of the systems that will be impacted during the Rand Water maintenance. However, other non-impacted systems may continue to be restricted. Furthermore, the Entity will provide alternative water supply through stationary and roaming water trucks in the areas that will be impacted areas.
This also serves as a reminder for customers to use the opportunity to store water for consumption use. Level 1 Water restrictions still apply. 
The upcoming maintenance is meant to correct the historical design of the engine rooms at Rand Water’s Eikenhof pump station.
According to a statement issued by Rand Water:
“Currently, Eikenhof has three engine rooms that were designed to be interrelated – when these were designed many years ago, the design was ideal because Eikenhof was supplying water to limited customers. However, with the increasing demand, there is a need to make the engine rooms independent and increase their flexibility.”
Regular updates will be provided to customers on the progress of the Rand Water maintenance.
