Lagos, Nigeria – 25th January, 2022 – Jobberman, Nigeria’s leading recruitment platform , has partnered with the Ikoyi-Obalende CDA to tackle unemployment among young people in that region. The partnership aims to train young people aged 18-35 in soft skills and place them  into dignified and fulfilling work through Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA Job Center and the Jobberman platform.

This partnership is part of Jobberman’s Young Africa Works’ mandate to train five million young Nigerians and place three million of them in dignified employment by 2025. Jobberman is the only recruitment services platform in Nigeria that offers training and placement of candidates in dignified and fulfilling employment. This training program equips young people (18-35) with critical tools, to help them transition into their new roles and increase workplace productivity.

The most recent data from Statista  puts the combined unemployment and underemployment rates in Lagos State at 37.14  percent – a figure that will almost certainly be exacerbated by the impact of COVID-19.

Jobberman and Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA will build awareness on opportunities in the Digital, Agriculture and Creative Sector and beyond through collaboration on events. The partnership will involve community leaders as well as other key decision-makers.

Fuad Atanda Lawal (Chairman Ikoyi-Obalende CDA) and Sheila Ojei (Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Jobberman Nigeria)

According to Ore Boboye, CEO of Jobberman Nigeria, “We are delighted to be working with the Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA and community leaders to address the issue of unemployment in that region and to play our part in providing young Nigerians with access to dignified roles, which offer a clear path to self-sustenance. Nigeria is full of talented and hardworking young people. However, the current structure of the jobs market means many are unable to make the most of their skills and talents.  This is why it is important to join forces with key stakeholders to equip young people with the skills they need and to link them effectively to dignified work opportunities.”

“The Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA is honoured to partner with Jobberman in upskilling and placing the youth in ikoyi-obalende.” said Fuad Atanda-Lawal, Chairman of the Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA, “Through this partnership young people will be able to gain the critical skills needed to swiftly enter the workforce and progress in their new careers.”
