Jobberman Nigeria in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation is championing diversity and inclusion as it storms Ibadan to empower Persons with Disabilities(PWDs).

The goal of the forum is to create a supportive space where participants can learn from industry experts, connect with other entrepreneurs and job seekers, and pick up practical tips and strategies to boost their career and business.

The special forum themed Empowered to Achieve More, is  scheduled to hold on the 31st of August 2024 at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan. The event will gather business experts like Dr Dare Adaramoye and Ms Victoria Otta to educate and lead the participants in conversations around business

For far too long, the narrative surrounding PWDs has been one of limitation and doubt. But the truth is, every individual, regardless of ability, possesses unique strengths and talents. Many have bravely challenged these misconceptions, shattering glass ceilings and achieving greatness. At Jobberman, we are committed to amplifying these voices, sparking meaningful conversations, and empowering everyone to pursue their dreams in business and career.

This initiative is aligned with our goal to decrease unemployment in Nigeria by not only connecting qualified candidates to quality jobs but also training talent with the right skills and competencies needed in their chosen careers

Activity Plan

The forum will include the following activities

  1. Keynote speech from the Director General of the Oyo State agency for PWD, Barr. Adekanmbi Ayodele,  to set the tone for the rest of the event.
  2. Panel discussions by the speakers to discuss the challenges Persons with Disabilities face. The panel session will also highlight the solutions to these challenges and how they can leverage them in career and personal advancement with a special focus on females.

Panel speakers

  • Dr Dare Adaramoye; founder of Trailblazer Network and experienced mentor to PWDs
  • Ms Victoria Otta; a tech professional with insight on how PWDs can leverage technology for business
  • Fakunle Bukola; a successful PWD entrepreneur/mentor to new PWD businessowners.
  1. Breakout sessions. This will be the highlight of the event as both business owners, intending and existing, as well as career professionals will engage with industry experts. The two sessions will focus on Interview Etiquette and mock interviews and Business Development advisory for Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
  2. One-on-one sessions: There’s a reward for the early birds. They will get to enjoy one-on-one sessions with HR and business professionals. The business professional(s) will be practicing business owners with disabilities.

The one-on-one sessions will feature CV reviews and career counselling to be handled by the HR professionals. The business professional will offer business development advisory on the spot.

These are the juicy offerings the participants will enjoy at the special forum in Ibadan.

If you know a Person with Disability in Ibadan who is interested in growing a business or advancing in their career, this is an opportunity you should swing by them.
