Bell Textron has selected Integris Composites to supply armor systems for the US Army’s Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) program.

Integris highlighted that its contribution will focus on enhancing the upcoming rotorcraft’s durability, speed, range, and payload capabilities.

The new aircraft will contribute to “our nation’s warfighters have the decisive edge in any theater where they are operating,” Integris Composites President Andrew Bonham.

FLRAA Program

Launched in 2018, the FLRAA initiative aims to replace the UH-60 Black Hawk and AH-64 Apache helicopters, both in service since the late 1970s, with advanced tiltrotor technology.

In 2022, Bell Textron clinched the $1.3 billion contract to develop the FLRAA, with plans to deliver the new aircraft by 2030.

Latest Developments

Earlier this month, Bell announced that fuselage assembly for the FLRAA project will take place in Wichita, Kansas.

In August, the program entered the engineering and manufacturing development phase after a preliminary design review that allowed Bell Textron to begin detailed design work on six prototypes.

Safran and Bell Textron partnered to provide the US Army’s FLRAA with high-voltage starter-generator systems in May.
