On Tuesday morning, Indianapolis Colts rookie Anthony Richardson was named as the team’s starting quarterback for the upcoming season. It had always pointed in that direction since the team took him 4th overall in the latest NFL Draft, but new head coach Shane Steichen wanted to leave no doubt.
Later in the day, Richardson made waves for off-field reasons, though thankfully not in a bad way. Videos surfaced of Richardson rapping in a music video, showcasing a skill set we hadn’t seen before.
The clip is from a music video of a song called “Talk To 2”, released by GVO Speero and featuring Big VO and GVO CJ. “GVO” stands for Gainesville’s Very Own, similar to Drake‘s collective OVO, which stands for October’s Very Own.
Some fans were impressed by Richardson’s verse in the song, citing his flow and lyrics as being surprisingly good for a football player taking a stab at rapping.
Others were not feeling it too much.
NFL Debut, Complete!
Richardson saw NFL action for the first time over the weekend, starting the Colts’ Week 1 preseason game against the Buffalo Bills. It was a rough beginning, as Richardson made a poor decision on a broken RPO play that resulted in an interception. The quarterback rebounded well, completing over 50% of his passes for 67 yards and adding seven yards on the ground.
Now the official starting quarterback of the team, Richardson is expected to get every opportunity to prove himself throughout the season. The Colts face the Jacksonville Jaguars in a division showdown in Week 1 of the regular season.
