In Kenya, indigenous communities rely on traditional rainmakers to predict the weather. These rainmakers use various forecasting methods, such as observing flowering trees—if they bloom without leaves, it signals a lack of rainfall. Apart from this, they rely on animal behavior and celestial observations for their predictions. These time-honored techniques have been passed down orally and are deeply rooted in the cultural heritage of various Kenyan tribes. However, not all meteorologists trust their expertise, though their predictions have often proven accurate in guiding farmers. Consequently, there has been a growing recognition of the value of integrating these indigenous forecasting methods with modern meteorological data.
