In an effort to deliver a vibrant, functional, and efficient housing sector that meets the shelter needs of Nigerians, the Minister of housing and urban development Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa has inaugurated the reform task teams for the actualization of the renewed hope agenda for housing and urban development.
The Inauguration took place at the NAF conference center, Abuja, on Tuesday.
The task teams inaugurated include : The Housing Institutions Reform Task Team, The Multi-Agency Project Delivery Task Team , The Land Reforms Task Team and the Building Materials Manufacturing Hubs Task Team.
The Task Teams have been carefully constituted to include all relevant stakeholders, such as agencies of government, professional and regulatory bodies, the academia, industry experts, traditional rulers, and other groups. The goal is to tap from the wealth of knowledge and experience of these relevant sectors and individuals, and come up with strategies that are inclusive, wholesome, and can stand the test of time. The teams also comprises of highly qualified housing industry sector experts, stakeholders, urban planning, infrastructure, experienced professionals with expertise in housing development, finance, and project management, amongst others.
The major task of the reform task Team is to develop a robust framework for ensuring that housing agencies under the supervision of the Ministry are optimized to deliver effectively on the Renewed Hope Vision for the provision of quality, decent and affordable homes to Nigerians.
In his address The Honourable minister commended President Tinubu for undertaking comprehensive housing sector reforms that will ensure that systemic and prevalent issues that have caused under development are fixed.
He also applauded President Tinubu’s demonstration of a strong political will and an unmatched boldness to deliver optimally on his mandates to deliver decent and affordable housing to Nigerians.
The Minister appealed to Nigerians to have faith in the teams saying ‘ I am confident that they will deliver, and the deliverables will form the foundation for a strong and vibrant housing and urban development sector we can all be proud of.”
To the task teams, he Urged every member to consider the task they have been assigned as an integral component of history-making. ‘‘When the history of Nigeria’s housing sector is written several years from now, it will be claimed that the teams we are introducing today, the event we are witnessing today, and the Nigerians involved were the ones who set the groundwork for the industry’s historic development and transformation.
“For the sake of future generations and Nigerians as a whole, I thus want to demand of you all that you give it your all. I want to thank you for accepting to be a part of this national assignment. I also look forward earnestly to your recommendations in the coming eight weeks so we can begin the process of implementing them towards building a vibrant and efficient housing industry that delivers decent and affordable housing to Nigerians
