Honouring Muhoroni’s Men of Strength: How NCBA Is Helping Change the Story
Muhoroni Sugar Company has been a pillar of its community since 1964. For decades, the factory has powered livelihoods, shaped families, and anchored the local economy.
Even in the hardest seasons, 20 years in receivership and five years of dedicated staff working without pay, Muhoroni never shut its doors. The factory stayed alive because its people refused to give up.
During its recent visit, NCBA spent time with one man whose 30-year journey mirrors Muhoroni’s own: born here, raised here, built a family here, and found purpose in service to the company.
His story is one of hundreds of stories of quiet strength, loyalty, and unwavering belief in a better tomorrow. It is these men who kept Muhoroni standing when everything else seemed uncertain.
Today, Muhoroni is rising again under the Kipchimchim Group, ushering in renewed hope for the community. And in that spirit of renewal, NCBA joined Muhoroni to celebrate the men whose resilience has safeguarded the soul of this town.

Honouring Muhoroni’s Men of Strength: How NCBA Is Helping Change the Story
A Community Rising Through Resilience and Support
As part of International Men’s Day and its #NCBAChangeTheStory initiative, powered by NCBA’s KES 100 million annual community investment, we honoured 100 of Muhoroni’s longest-serving men.
Each received a care pack and a moment of recognition for their decades of contribution.
The Chairman and Managing Director of Muhoroni Sugar Company joined the engagement as the bank handed over 100 bags, a symbolic gesture of solidarity and belief in a stronger future for every family tied to the factory.
In Muhoroni, there is already an existing workforce that has weathered tough seasons with admirable grit. Their resilience is a reminder of why community support must be steady, consistent, and intentional.
Earlier this year, the bank marked the International Day for Older Persons, standing with the seniors whose wisdom and labour laid the foundations we build on today.
Honouring them reinforced a simple truth: every generation deserves to feel valued, included, and supported.
Different communities. Different needs. But one consistent NCBA https://ke.ncbagroup.com/ promise remains to show up, to listen, and to invest in moments that strengthen the social fabric of our nation.
This is what our KES 100 million annual citizenship investment looks like: meaningful action that inspires hope and continues to #NCBAChangeTheStory.
