Ghana’s National Communications Authority (NCA) and Togo’s telecom regulator, ARCEP, concluded a three-day meeting in Accra focused on curbing frequency interference and improving cross-border spectrum management.

The consultations, which involved regulators and major operators including MTN, AT Ghana, Telecel, Moov, and YAS Togo, addressed harmful signal spillover affecting mobile connectivity in border communities. Officials emphasized that effective coordination is essential to safeguard service quality as both nations expand networks and prepare for 5G deployment.

NCA Deputy Director General, Suleman Salifu, stressed the importance of frameworks aligned with the ITU, ECOWAS, and ATU guidelines, while ARCEP’s Delegation Head, Awutey Dodji Sylvanus, highlighted plans to update the bilateral agreement. Delegates reviewed field reports, shared technical data, and proposed revisions to enhance efficiency and service delivery.

The meeting builds on Ghana’s recent cross-border discussions with Burkina Faso and reflects broader regional efforts to harmonize telecom standards, strengthen cooperation, and ensure seamless connectivity across West Africa.
