General Atomics has announced investments in Dutch companies Emergent Swarm Solutions and Saluqi Motors to support the development of future systems.

Emergent Swarm Solutions develops software for autonomous flight and decentralized drone swarming.

The partnership with General Atomics will support “to develop and deploy our autonomy and swarming capabilities on the current and next generation of unmanned aircraft,” said Lennart Bult, Co-founder and Managing Director at Emergent Swarm Solutions.

Saluqi Motors produces compact, high-density electric motors with integrated electronics designed to deliver high power and torque.

The collaboration with General Atomics will accelerate the development of Saluqi’s existing motors for aerospace use and design new models for specific applications.

“Our ultra-compact and high-performance motors are engineered to meet the demanding requirements of aerospace applications. This collaboration enables us to further validate our technology and develop new solutions for the defense and aerospace industries,” said Matthijs de Haan, CEO at Saluqi Motors.

Latest Advancements

In recent months, General Atomics has tested new capabilities across its aircraft portfolio, focusing on control, sensors, and communications.

Earlier this month, the company displayed an MQ-9B drone with a 25-kilowatt scalable laser weapon.

In March, it tested the Gray Eagle Extended Range using the Proliferated Low Earth Orbit satellite network for communications.

It also flew an MQ-20 Avenger drone controlled by two autonomous software systems.

In February, the company completed qualification demos of its new 200-horsepower heavy fuel engine for the Gray Eagle 25M unmanned aerial system.
